This includes press releases and official trailers/posters. We draw the line of spoilers at anything that is announced by the studio. We've been getting a lot of spoiler reports on this post so I wanted to remind every one what /r/movies spoiler policy is. So I'm guessing it's a fair amount of post processing that was avoided or decided against for Vader's voice.
I even did a test of pitch shifting Sloan's VO from Battlefront down by 10% and didn't maintain his tempo of line delivery, and BOOM already it sounds way better. I wonder if in the post processing they left out reverb and pitch lowering because they don't know the exact processing settings that Ben Burtt used in the original SFX VO for Vader, and they're doing their best to replicate it, but missing some essential steps. When VO actors age, I've noticed that their voices get a bit more ropey due to age, but that should engender a lower pitch because older vocal cords usually have more trouble hitting higher notes. Vader has a low drawl to him that seems to be pitched up both for Sloan in Battlefront and Jones in Star Wars: Rebels, rather than pitched down and drawn out. the VO for the others, plus he hasn't been pitched down properly. The problem that I'm hearing is that there is more yelling involved in the Battlefront VO vs.
